අම්පාර මහජන පුස්තකාලයීය මාර්ගගත සුචිය වෙත සාදරයෙන් පිළිගනිමු
දිගාමඩුල්ල දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ ගල්ඔය සංවර්ධන ව්‍යාපාරයෙන් දියුණුව වූ අම්පාර නගරයේ ප්‍රධාන ආයතනයක් වන අම්පාර නගර සභාව යටතේ පාලනය වන මහජන පුස්තකාලය 1979 වර්ෂයේ දී නගර සභාව මගින් නගරයේ උගත් බුද්ධිමතුන් බිහිකිරිමේ සේවාවට දායක වෙමින් සභාවේ කුඩා ගොඩනැගිල්ලක පුස්තකාල සේවාව ආරම්භ කර ඇත.මෙහි පුරෝගාමියා වශයෙන් එවකට නගර සභාවේ සභාපති චන්ද්‍රදාස ගලප්පත්ති මහතා විසින් පාලනය විය. පුස්තකාල පාඨකයින්ගේ අභිවෘද්ධිය සඳහා 1990 වර්ෂයේ දී නව ගොඩනැගිල්ලක ස්ථාපනය කලේය.
මෙම පුස්තකාලයේ ප්‍රධාන අංශ 5 කින් සමන්විත වේ. එය බැහැරදිමේ අංශය, විමර්ශන අංශය, ළමා අංශය හා සඟරා අංශය, පුවත්පත් අංශය, දෘෂ්‍යාබාධිත පුද්ගලයින් සඳහා බේල් අංශය හා පොත් බැදුම් අංශයකින් සමන්ව්ත වේ.
විද්‍වත් මණ්ඩලයකින් යුත් පරිපූර්ණ වූ පාඨක සාමාජයකින් සමන්විත මහජන පුස්තකාලය සතුව පොත් 16750 ක් පමණ තිබෙන අතර සඟරා හා සියලු පුවත් පත් ද පුස්තකාල පාඨකයින් සඳහා සපයනු ලැබේ.මෙ වන විට පුස්තකාලයේ නිත්‍ය සාමාජකයින් 2200 න් සමත් වන අතර දිනකට පාඨකයින් 300 ක් පමණ පුස්තකාලය පරීශිලනය කරනු ලබයි. 2011, 2013, හා 2015 යන වර්ෂ වල නැගෙනහිර පලාතේ සංරක්ෂණ මධ්‍යස්ථාන තේරීමේ තරග වලින් පළාත් ජයග්‍රහණ ලබා ඇත.
නව තාක්ෂණ දැනුම කරා පිය නගන ලොවකට පරිපුර්ණ මිනිසෙකු බිහිකිරිමට පොත පතින් ලද දැනුම් සම්භාරය සාමාජයේ ආකල්ප හා ධනාත්මක සිතුවිලි ඇති කිරීමට පිටුවහලක් වේ.
2021 වර්ෂයේ, ශ්‍රී ලංකා තොරතුරු හා සන්නිවේදන තාක්ෂණ නියෝජිතායතනය (ICTA) හා ශ්‍රී ලංකා ජාතික පුස්තකාල හා ප්‍රලේඛන සේවා මණ්ඩලය හා එක්ව “ඩිජිටල් පුස්තකාල ව්‍යාපෘතිය” හරහා යාවත්කාලීන සංස්කරණ මුහුණුවරකින් යුත් පූර්ණ පුස්තකාල ස්වයංක්‍රීය පද්ධතියක් ද නවීන අංගෝපාංගයන් හා සේවාවන්ගෙන් සපිරි නව තාක්ෂණික අත්දැකිමක් සඳහා දොරටු විවර කර ඇත.
The public library controlled under ampara urban council which is considered as a main institute developed by galoya development project was established in 1979 had been a part of creating educated , intelligent scholars to the society stranded in a small building in the urban council. It was administrated by the president of the urban council, Hon Chandradasa Galappaththi. This library consist of five section as lending section reference section children and magazine section newspaper section brail section for visually handicapped people and book binding section.
With a board of scholars and a perfect reader s club there are about 16750 books in this library and it provides magazine and newspapers to the read too. there are 2200 permanent members and nearly 300 readers are using this library daily.Ampara public library received achievements from selecting conservation centers in 2011/2013 and in 2015.
In order to create perfect citizens with positive attitudes and optimistic social values in this technological knowledge based world the books will be the mind crucial source of future.
In 2021, The Digital Libraries Project was implemented at this public library by the Information Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) in collaboration with National Library and Documentation Services Board by providing an advanced and updated library automation system and introduced modern infrastructure which is in demand to improve the quality and efficiency of the library system in the country.
